VOLTZ FINALIST FOR SEC ACADEMIC AWARD: Senior 1B Jude Voltz has been named a finalist for the 1999-2000 H. Boyd McWhorter SEC Scholar-Athlete Award. As a finalist, Voltz will receive a $5,000 scholarship for post-graduate studies. Each SEC school nominated one male and one female for the award, and a selection committe will name an outstanding male and female scholar-athlete, who will in turn receive a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship, provided by the Alltel Corporation.

REBEL BULLET POINTS:

Ole Miss is going for its second sweep of a three-game series this season, and its first in SEC play. The Rebels swept three games from Louisiana Tech Feb. 18-20 in Oxford.

The Rebels entered the Sunday game of an SEC series five times last season with an opportunity to sweep the series, and went 2-3 in those games. Ole Miss swept Kentucky and Florida, while Vanderbilt, Georgia and Mississippi State were able to avoid sweeps by salvaging the final game of the series.

Dating back to last season, Ole Miss is 16-7 (.696) against the SEC Eastern Division, and is 21-8 (.724) dating back to the third game of the 1998 Florida series (4/12/98).

The seven runs by Ole Miss last night marked the first time in five games that the Rebels scored five or more runs. The 12 hits was also the first time in five games that Ole Miss had recorded six or more hits.

The Rebels are 10-2 (.833) when scoring seven or more runs and 12-2 (.857) when recording 10 or more hits in a game.

Since 1998, Ole Miss is 59-8 (.881) when leading after seven innings, and 63-4 (.940) when leadng after eight innings.
