OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss track and field teams will compete Friday and Saturday in the Big Cat Classic at the Murphy Sports Complex in Memphis, Tenn., hosted by Rhodes College and the University of Memphis. The teams had previously been scheduled to compete at the Clemson Invitational in Clemson, S.C., but recently chose instead to compete in Memphis.

Coming off third place finishes at the SEC Quadrangular at the University of South Carolina last week, the Rebels and Lady Rebels are hoping to gain some valuable experience in Memphis as they prepare for the Texas Relays and Penn Relays before the SEC and NCAA Championships later this season.

Events to be held Friday afternoon include the men's and women's hammer throw and the men's and women's 10,000 meters, with competition scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. Saturday's field events are scheduled to begin 9:00 a.m. with the running events to start at 11:00 a.m.

Next weekend the Rebels and Lady Rebels will compete in the 73rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas, one of the most respected and honored track and field events in the nation.
