Women's Basketball Squad Holds Awards Banquet

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team announced its 1999-2000 award winners at its annual banquet, held on Monday night at Abbeville Catfish.

Senior Frankie Boyd (Ethel, Miss.) received the team Most Valuable Player Award. Boyd led the team in scoring and rebounding with 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She scored a career-high 27 points and 13 rebounds to lead Ole Miss to the Montana State Gran Tree Classic title and also earned tournament MVP honors.

Becky Myatt, a junior from Bon Aqua, Tenn., earned the team's Lady Rebel Award, which is given to the player who excels on and off the court. Myatt has led the team in minutes played all three seasons of her career and averaged a team-leading 31.3 minutes per game this year. She finished a close third on the team in scoring with 9.6 points per game.

Myatt ranked among the SEC leaders in three-pointers per game with 2.1. and needs 26 threes to become the all-time leader at Ole Miss. In addition, Myatt needs 157 points to become the 19th Lady Rebels to score 1,000 points for her career. Off the court, Myatt is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and has been on the Dean's and UMAA Honor Rolls.

Senior Tanya Bolden of Water Valley, received the Scholar Athlete Award. Bolden is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and has been a member of the Dean's and UMAA Honor Rolls. A member of the 2000 SEC Good Works Team, Bolden will graduate in May with a degree in Exercise Science.

Other award winners included: Most Versatile, Sinissia Wysinger (Many, La.), Newcomer Award, Von Kirk (Huntsville, Ala.), Most Improved, Chandra Dorsey (Pine Grove, La.) and Best Team Player, Stephanie Murphy (Webb, Miss.).
