Ole Miss Softball Splits With Tennessee

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss pitcher Lindsay Price tossed a four-hitter in leading the Rebels to a 4-1 win over the Tennessee Lady Vols in game one of a softball double-header Saturday afternoon.

The Rebels (19-34 overall, 6-14 Southeastern Conference) dropped the second game of the twin bill as the Lady Vols (17-24, 5-14) prevented the sweep with a 1-0 victory.

In game one, the Rebels trailed 1-0 before a four-run rally in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Korrie Kashuba walked with one out in the fifth and reached second on passed ball. Kashuba then moved to third after Rachel Davenport reached on a fielding error by the second baseman.

Holly Burris then singled deep in the hole at shortstop to drive in Audra Wadsworth, who pinch ran for Kashuba, and move Davenport to second to tie the game at 1-1.

Davenport scored on an error by the shortstop off a grounder hit by Amanda Lehotak. Heather Swinney then doubled to left-center field to drive in Burris and Lehotak to give the Rebels a 4-1 advantage.

Price held the Lady Vols without a hit in the final two innings to notch the win.

In game two, Adrianna Wilson of Tennessee smacked a solo home run to centerfield in the top of the seventh inning to give the Lady Vols a 1-0 victory.

The Rebels stranded six runners on base in the game and out hit the Lady Vols six to five.

Ole Miss travels to Auburn take on the Tigers on April 21-22. Game one of the double-header is set for 1 p.m. on both days.
