Men's Golf Sixth After Day One Of SEC Tournament

KILLEN, Ala. - The Ole Miss men's golf team fired an opening-round 304 Friday to place sixth after day one of the Southeastern Conference Championships, held at the Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club.
Jon Bartlett led the Rebels today, shooting 36-37--73 to tie for 11th. The senior from Ocala, Fla. enters the championships having placed in the top 20 of his last eight tournaments.
Senior Chris Malloy is tied for 22nd entering Saturday's second round after posting a day-one 76. Freshman Andrew Medley carded a 77 to tie for 28th, while junior Phil Caravia is a stroke back with a 78 to tie for 38th. Troy Muller opened with an 81.
Georgia shot a two-under-par 286 Friday to take a first round lead, followed by Auburn with a 290. Individually, four golfers are tied for the lead with a 70.
In the SEC Championships, only the top four of the five scores count towards the team total. The teams will tee-off again Saturday, starting at 8 a.m. CST with the tournament wrapping up on Sunday.
