AUBURN, Ala. - Ole Miss pitcher Jennifer Hughes took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of game one against the Auburn Tigers, but finished with a three-hit extra-inning victory.
Ole Miss (20-35, 7-15 Southeastern Conference) lost the second game of the double-header as the Tigers rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to prevent the sweep.
With the split, the Rebels maintained their half-game lead over the Tigers for the eighth and final spot for the SEC Tournament.
In game one, Hughes improved to 5-5 on the year after allowing one run on three hits with nine strikeouts. Hughes held the Tigers hitless through six innings before a lead-off single up the middle to open the seventh by Marcella Passarelli.
Ole Miss put a run up in the sixth inning when Kaci Coffee drove in Amanda Lehotak on a fielder's choice. After the Tigers tied the game in the seventh, Holly Burris drove in the game-winner with a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning.
Hughes retired the Tigers in the ninth to preserve the win.
In game two, Ole Miss jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles by Heather Swinney and Allison Willrath that scored Lehotak and Coffee.
But, the Tigers put up a run in the fifth and added three more in the sixth to pull out a 4-2 victory.
