Alabama Powers Past Ole Miss Again, 12-7

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama hit five home runs, including three during a six-run fifth inning, en route to a 12-7 win over Ole Miss Saturday afternoon in front of 6,245 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
The win was the seventh in a row for the Crimson Tide (29-16, 10-10 SEC), who will go for a three-game sweep of the Rebels Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
Brent Boyd, Sam Bozanich, and Scott McClanahan recorded four hits each as Alabama out-hit Ole Miss 20-9. Boyd also homered twice and drove in three runs. His one-out solo home run in the fifth broke a 1-1 tie and started the decisive six-run fifth.
Jonathan Blankenship (5-5) pitched 7 2/3 innings to earn the win. He allowed six runs on eight hits and four walks, and fanned seven.
Joey Cramblitt (4-7) suffered the loss. He was charged with seven runs on 12 hits and one walk.
Jude Voltz went 2-for-3 for the Rebels, and hit his team-leading 7th home run of the year with a solo shot to cap a six-run eighth inning.
Voltz's home run was one of three for Ole Miss (24-18, 8-10 SEC) during the eighth inning. Glen Morris greeted reliever Bryce Heath with a three-run, pinch-hit home run to make the score 12-4. Carl Lafferty later added a two-run home run in the inning to pull the Rebels to within 12-6.
Voltz gave the Rebels a 1-0 lead in the first with a two-out single to score Clint Farrar. Alabama would tie the game in the third on Erik Smallwood's lead-off home run.
