Auburn, Ala. - Ole Miss pitcher Jennifer Hughes kept the Rebels in the hunt for a berth in the Southeastern Conference Tournament as she picked up a 5-2 victory in game two against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday.

Hughes' win put Ole Miss (21-36, 8-16 SEC) a half-game ahead of the Tigers (31-26, 7-16) for the eighth and final tournament spot.

Hughes allowed two runs on four hits with five strikeouts to pick up her second win of the series and improve to 6-5 overall.

In game two, Ole Miss jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning off an RBI double by Heather Swinney that scored Mandy Shklar.

After the Tigers tied the game with a run in the bottom of the first, the Rebels took the lead again on an RBI double by Jamie Cummings that scored Phyllis Manley.
