ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 14 nationally-ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team rallied to defeat defending NCAA Champion Georgia, 4-3 on the road Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Rebels improve to 15-4 overall, 7-2 in the SEC, while Georgia drops to 11-8 and 5-3.

Georgia got the early advantage by sweeping all three doubles to take a 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs came into the match with a 10-2 record when winning the doubles point and the Rebels entered at 1-4 when losing the point.

Ole Miss bounced back to tie the match when Kristofer Stahlberg downed Travis Parrott 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Georgia then took a 2-1 lead as 24th-ranked Matias Boeker defeated James Shortall 6-4, 7-5 at the top spot.

Anders Stenman squared the match at 2-2 defeating Brandon Wagner 7-6(3), 6-3 at No. 6 singles, and then freshman Alexander Hartman rallied to beat Lesley Joseph 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, to give Ole Miss a 3-2 lead.

Senior Vikrant Chadha came up big as he has many times during his four-year career, winning a third-set tiebreaker over Georgia's Adam Seri to claim a 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(3) victory that clinched the match for the Rebels.

With the match in hand, Rebel Martin Selin retired in the third set against Nicolas Boeker to make it 4-3.

"I am proud of the guys for coming back after losing the doubles," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "Georgia is the defending NCAA Champion, and they are always tough to beat at home. Vikrant has stepped up so many times for us in crucial situations and today he did it again."

The Rebels go 2-0 on the weekend road trip with their 5-2 win over South Carolina on Friday and have won six of their last seven matches. They will close out the regular season home schedule Wednesday against Arkansas at 2:00 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
