OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss will host Arkansas-Little Rock Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field, in a make-up game for one of the Rebels' two rainouts this season.
Season ticket holders will be admitted for free by showing proof of having purchased season tickets, otherwise admission is one dollar.
Ole Miss is 28-20 on the year, 10-13 in the Southeastern Conference. The Rebels hold a 1.5-game lead over Kentucky and Tennessee for the eighth and final spot the SEC Tournament, scheduled for May 17-21 at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Ole Miss travels to Georgia for a three-game conference series starting Friday following Tuesday's contest with the Trojans.
"While it may not be a conference game, this is a very important game for us in terms of possibly getting back to the NCAAs," said Ole Miss head coach Pat Harrison. "We feel if we can get back to the SEC Tournament we will have a shot of earning another regional bid.
"Arkansas-Little Rock is having a good season playing in a very good baseball conference, and this is the type of game that the selection committee may look at when deciding who gets in the tournament."
Redshirt freshman right-hander Joseph Liberto is slated to be the Rebels' starter versus UALR. Liberto has made 14 appearances this season, including five starts, and is 4-0 with a 5.18 ERA in 41.2 IP.
Sophomore OF Kris Cox brings a career-best 16-game hitting streak into Tuesday's game. He is hitting .371 (23-62) during the streak, and has also reached base safely in 23 consecutive games.
As a team, Ole Miss will put a streak of 10 straight games with a home run on the line.
Arkansas-Little Rock brings a 28-18 record into the match-up with Ole Miss. The Trojans are 13-10 in Sun Belt Conference action after winning two-of-three at Western Kentucky this past weekend.
Senior right-hander Ryan McManis is slated to be the starter for UALR. McManis is 3-3 with a 3.47 ERA in 46.2 IP.
As a team, the Trojans are hitting .290 with 35 HRs, and have outscored their opponents 361-231. The UALR pitching staff has a 4.03 ERA, and opponents are hitting .268 against them with 28 HRs.
