Arkansas Ends Ole Miss' Season With 8-1 Win

OXFORD, Miss. - Arkansas scored four runs in the first inning and out-hit Ole Miss 14-6 en route to a 8-1 victory Saturday afternoon in the rubber-match of the weekend's three-game Southeastern Conference series.
With the loss and an 11-1 win by Kentucky, the Wildcats jumped the Rebels for the eighth and final spot to next week's SEC Tournament.
Arkansas (24-30, 8-20 SEC) jumped on Ole Miss starter Ronnie Goodwin for five hits in the opening frame, including Bryan Kirby's two-run single. Nick Pitts drove in two more on a double to centerfield to put the Razorbacks up 4-0.
Arkansas tacked on three more runs in the third inning, keyed by Kyle Washburn's RBI-single. Washburn finished the game 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs-scored.
The Rebels (30-25, 12-17 SEC) scored their only run in the seventh when Clint Farrar doubled home Kris Cox. Cox led Ole Miss at the plate, going 2-for-4.
UA starter Jared Manatt (3-2) held the Rebels to one run on six hits over a career-long 7 2/3 innings. He also tied his career-high with seven strikeouts.
Goodwin suffered the loss, allowing seven runs on nine hits in 2 and 2/3 innings of work.
