Arkansas Sweeps Rebels In Softball Double-Header

OXFORD, Miss. - The Arkansas Lady Razorbacks held the Ole Miss Rebels to just four hits in two games en route to double-header sweep in Wednesday night softball action.

With the two losses Ole Miss (21-40 overall, 8-20 Southeastern Conference) is eliminated from SEC Tournament contention. The Lady Razorbacks improved to 38-29 overall and 17-11 in the SEC.

In game one, Arkansas put three runs on the board in the top of the fourth inning for the only scoring of the game. Lady `Backs pitcher Rachel Talley retired the last 15 consecutive Ole Miss batters to pick up the victory.

Ole Miss pitcher Jennifer Hughes allowed just three hits and one earned run in the loss.

In game two, Arkansas' Tammy Kincaid allowed just one hit through six innings to pick up a 2-0 victory. The Rebels got their second hit of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning when Kaci Coffee singled to right field.

The Rebels managed to put runners on first and second after Phyllis Manley walked with one out in the inning, but were unable to rally for the win.

The loss put the Rebels out of contention for a berth in the SEC Tournament.

Ole Miss pitcher Holly Burris allowed seven hits and one earned run with six strikeouts in the loss.

The Rebels and Lady Razorbacks conclude the series on Thursday. Game one of the double-header is set for 5 p.m., with game two slated for 7 p.m.
