ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia starter Matt Steele tossed six perfect innings, and Ole Miss' rally fell short in a 5-4 Bulldog win at Foley Field, giving UGA (30-20, 14-11 SEC) the series win.

Steele retired the first 19 Rebel batters before being driven out in the seventh after three Ole Miss runs. After a Kris Cox walk ended the perfect game, Burney Hutchinson blasted his ninth home run of the year to put the Rebels on the scoreboard, 2-5. Jude Voltz followed with a double and three batters later, was driven home on a Justin Huisman ground out.

Ole Miss (28-23, 10-15 SEC) cut the UGA lead to one in the eighth with a Voltz RBI-single, and threatened to tie the game in the ninth. Huisman singled to open the inning but was left stranded on first base to seal the series for Georgia.

Steele (6-3) allowed three runs on three hits in 6 1/3 innings. Jeffery Carswell earned his fourth save of the year and his second in as many games. Brian Rainwater homered in the second inning and Adam Swann in the third to supply the Bulldog offense.

Joey Cramblitt (4-8) took the loss for Ole Miss, surrendering four runs on seven hits in four innings. Voltz went 2-for-4 to lead the Rebels.

Ole Miss, who remains in the eighth and final spot for the SEC Tournament, will try to salvage the finale, Sunday at 12:30 p.m. CST.
