Men's Golf Star Advances In NCAA Championships

OPELIKA, Ala.- Ole Miss golfer Jon Bartlett shot a career-low 66 Thursday to move up 83 spots and make the cut for the third round of the NCAA Championships at the Grand National Golf Club's Lake Course.
Bartlett, who is an individual participant in the finals, is tied with three others for 13th after 36 holes with a three-under-par 141 and is the second of nine individuals to advance to the third round. The senior from Ocala, Fla., was tied for 96th after day one with a 75.
Bartlett currently trails the co-leaders, Texas' David Gossett and Oklahoma State's Charles Howell, by eight strokes with two rounds remaining. Oklahoma State is atop the team leaderboard after day two with a 19-under-par 557.
Third round action of the championships is Friday with the field narrowed to 15 teams and the nine individuals. Bartlett is set to tee off at 9:27 a.m. The final round is Saturday.
