OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss head coach David Cutcliffe announced here Tuesday that junior wide receiver Maurice Flournoy is no longer a member of the Rebel football program.

"Due to a violation of team policy, Maurice Flournoy is no longer a part of our team," Cutcliffe said.

Flournoy, a 5-10, 170 pound junior from Ft. Myers, Fla., was listed as a returning starter at split end coming out of spring practice.

During his sophomore year in 1999, Flournoy started eight games, including the Sanford Independence Bowl, as he split the starting role with Jamie Armstrong. A chest injury kept him out of the Arkansas game.

Flournoy averaged 10.3 yards per reception during the regular season as he caught 22 passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns. He also had two catches for 43 yards against Oklahoma in the 27-25 bowl game victory.

Flournoy played in all 12 games during his true freshman year in 1998, but did not have any receiving statistics. However, he did contribute as a kickoff and punt return specialist.

During his two years with the Rebels, Flournoy appeared in 21 of 22 regular season games and had 560 all-purpose yards, which included 226 receiving, 328 in kickoff returns, and six more yards in punt returns.
