OXFORD, Miss. - Members of the Ole Miss football signee class of 2000, along with new walk-ons, are scheduled to report here Friday to begin preparations for the upcoming season.
"We're excited to get this class on campus," Cutcliffe said. "It will also be great when we can finally get back on the field."
The orientation process for both the parents and players will begin Friday afternoon with a full academic orientation schedule set for Saturday. The first two practices for the newcomers are set for Monday with upperclassmen scheduled to report Tuesday.
Cutcliffe announced that three members of the 2000 signee class -- Rodney Burgess of Del Ray Beach, Fla., Tray Vardiman of Jackson, Tenn., and Larrick Womack of Memphis, Tenn. -- will not be reporting Friday since they did not satisfy NCAA eligibility requirements. He also announced that redshirt freshman Michael Hollinger of Metairie, La., has left the team. The first day of practice for the full squad is set for Thursday, August 10.
Ole Miss opens the 2000 campaign here Sept. 2 against Tulane. Kickoff is set for 11:35 a.m., and will be telecast by Jefferson-Pilot.
