OXFORD, Miss. -- Drew Clinton, a native of Memphis, Tenn., has joined the Ole Miss women's basketball program as administrative assistant, Lady Rebel head coach Ron Aldy announced Monday. Clinton replaces Katie Cochran, who left earlier this summer to take a position at Louisiana Tech. Clinton's duties will include coordinating tape exchange and travel arrangements, assisting with the schedule, and various other administrative duties as assigned.
"Drew brings a lot of experience and knowledge to our program in the administrative staff position," Aldy said. "We are blessed to have someone who will be able to help in so many areas. It's also a bonus to hire someone, who knows the school and the area and will take pride in being here." Prior to accepting this position, Clinton spent the past four years serving as the Sports Manager for the national Amateur Athletic Association (AAU) in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. His duties included overseeing the AAU Girl's Basketball and AAU Golf national programs.
While serving in that capacity, Clinton also volunteered his time at the AAU Girl's Basketball Tennessee State Tournament, the TSSAA State Soccer Tournament and the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament.
Clinton, who went to high school in Memphis and then attended the University of Mississippi, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Administration from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. With the recent hiring of Gil Thompson as assistant coach, and Clinton, Aldy has completed his staff. The Lady Rebels, who return 10 letterwinners from last year's squad and welcome five hnewcomers, open the season Nov. 9 with an exhibition game against the Basketball Travelers.
