OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss practiced in shorts and shoulder pads in the 100-plus degree heat Thursday, as the Rebels continued final preparations for Saturday's season opener against Tulane.
Saturday's contest with the Green Wave is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium/Hollingsworth Field and will be televised by Jefferson Pilot.
With the first game just two days away, head coach David Cutcliffe was pleased with the team's effort in Thursday's practice.
"I thought we looked as sharp as we have all fall, as far as knowing what to do and being in the right places," Cutcliffe said. "We threw and caught the ball well on offense. We did a good job of pushing through and staying focused in another day of intense heat."
Junior linebacker Eddie Strong continues to be listed as day-to-day with an injury to his left foot.
"Eddie hasn't practiced much this week and we are still in a day-to-day evaluation of him," Cutcliffe said. "Because of that, we will probably make a decision Friday based on how he's responding to treatment."
