OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss football newcomers began two-a-day practices Monday with a pair of non-contact workouts.
Working in shorts, shoulder pads and helmets, the signee class of 2000 used the opening day of practice to focus on individual skills. The players spent the morning practice working on defensive drills and the afternoon on offensive drills.
"I think we understood the tempo better by the afternoon session," said Ole Miss assistant head coach Richard Bisaccia. "We definitely improved our effort and finished drills a lot better as we went through the afternoon."
The first-year Rebels will have another two-practice day on Tuesday, while upperclassmen report to campus to begin their preparation for the upcoming season. Full squad two-a-days start on Thursday.
Ole Miss opens the 2000 campaign here Sept. 2 against Tulane. Kickoff is set for 11:35 a.m., and will be televised by Jefferson-Pilot.
