OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebel football team went through final preparations for Saturday's game with a walk-through in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Friday afternoon, and head coach David Cutcliffe said that the players are excited about tomorrow's season opener.

"We had another good day of preparation this afternoon," said Cutcliffe. "It is evident that we know what we're doing, and now it's time to go do it. The players are eager to compete and play. We will be in team meetings tonight, and right now, all we have left to do is the mental preparation for the game."

In other news, junior linebacker Eddie Strong will not play in Saturday's game versus Tulane. After extensive tests, it was determined that the Batesville, Miss., native did not have a stress fracture of his left foot, but a bone contusion. Strong will continue to go through treatment, and a full recovery is expected. He is listed as day-to-day, and is making progress.

The Rebels host Tulane in their 2000 season opener Saturday in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Game time is 11:35 a.m., and the contest will be televised by Jefferson-Pilot.
