Ole Miss Softball Team Hosts Fall Tournament

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss softball team hosts four teams in a two-day fall tournament Saturday and Sunday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. Games begin at 9 a.m. each day.

On Saturday, the Rebels play Delta State at 9 a.m., Christian Brothers at 11 and West Alabama at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Ole Miss faces Delta State at 3 p.m. followed by Mississippi University for Women at 5.

The Rebels are looking to improve this year on a 21-42 mark last spring. Ole Miss is returning a strong pitching staff that boasted a 2.81 team ERA a year ago. Sophomore left-hander Holly Burris totaled 10 wins and a 2.22 ERA last year, while collecting four shutouts and 104 strikeouts. Senior Jennifer Hughes and sophomore Lindsay Price posted ERAs of 2.14 and 3.11, respectively, to finish out the staff.

Returning at the plate for Ole Miss is sophomore infielder Amanda Lehotak, who started every game in 2000 and led the team with a .286 batting average. Fellow sophomore Jessica Hamilton is also back after hitting .264 last year.
