OLE MISS POST-GAME QUOTES

David Cutcliffe, Head Coach
"I'm proud of the way our entire team played today, offense, defense and special teams. When you win a game 12-7, it's a team victory. We came out against a strong, well-coached Vanderbilt team and pulled out the win. I felt like we played ourselves out of many chances to put the game away. We should have been ahead 21-0 late in the game, but penalties and bad decisions held us back. You hate to have the game come down to the very last play."

On the final 5:00:
"I told [the defense] to just keep playing, keep hitting like they had been the whole game and we'd be able to make the big play. When we got the ball, we tried to keep the ball on the ground and run out the clock. I was really happy with our special teams play today, and the punt that pinned Vandy on the one-yard line was a great moment.

Deuce McAllister, Running Back
On Bruised AC joint in right shoulder:
"I have good motion (in the shoulder). I should be ready after the off-week for Kentucky."

Was play injured on a cheap shot, as suggested by two Ole Miss players:
"Things like this happen in football. We felt good about the first half but the team needs to be more consistent as a whole. Other players stepped up and made plays when they needed to. We feel like we should be able to move the ball regardless of who we are playing."

On TD Run:
"The safety came up hard and I had do break it outside. The receivers did a great job blocking downfield."

Romaro Miller, Quarterback
"Vanderbilt has a good defense and had an affect on us sustaining our offense. Vanderbilt brought things that we did not prepared for. We felt like we had a great gameplan, but we shot ourselves in the foot inside the red zone. The win was important after the Auburn loss. We did not want to start off 0-2 in the SEC. The off-week will be important for the team in having time to heal."

VANDERBILT POST-GAME QUOTES

Vanderbilt coach Woody Widenhofer
"It?s a real tough loss. I still haven't lost faith with this football team. It seems like each week something bites us in the Achilles. This week it was turnovers and bad tackling."

"We were down in scoring position 3 or 4 times with chances to kick field goals, and maybe win 13-12, but we couldn't convert."

"In the second half, we tackled better and were getting (our defense) off the field after third down more."

"We can't dwell on it (the loss). We have 8 games left. This is a good football team and we're going to win our share of games."

Quarterback Greg Zolman
"It's disappointing. (Ole Miss) was ripe to be beat. The important thing is to bounce back and keep fighting, and hopefully we'll play well against Duke."

"You have to give credit to their defense. They have some great athletes and they're going to beat some people this year."

Linebacker Jamie Winborn
"We just have to take the loss as a team. It's nobody's fault but ours. We have to do better as a team. We definitely had an opportunity to win. Playing against a nationally ranked team, you're not going to win playing like that."

Linebacker Nate Morrow
"It's frustrating. We work too hard to shoot ourselves in the foot like that. Offense, defense, special teams ? it's all of us. To get so close and lose, we have to finish it."

Tight End Elliott Carson
"You can't have any turnovers and expect to beat a team like Ole Miss. We played better in the second half, but we can play better than we did. The talent's here. If we play a complete game, we can beat any of the teams on our schedule."
