Softball Wins Rebell Fall Classic

OXFORD, Miss.-- The Ole Miss Softball Team posted a perfect 5-0 record over the weekend to take first place in the third annual Rebel Fall Classic.

On Sunday, Ole Miss senior Jennifer Hughes tossed a five-hit shutout, and freshman Lindsey Bonnell hit 3-for-4 in the Rebels? 7-0 stomping of MUW. In the previous game, sophomore Amanda Lehotak went 2-for-3 with an RBI-triple to lead Ole Miss over Delta State, 5-2.

West Alabama picked up a 5-3 win over DSU and a 7-0 crushing of Christian Brothers Sunday to finish the tournament with a 2-2 mark. Mississippi University for Women also finished at 2-2 after polishing off CBU, 8-0. Delta State posted a 2-3 record, while Christian Brothers went 0-4.

Ole Miss opens its 2001 season Feb. 1 at the University of New Mexico Tournament in Albuquerque. The homeopener will be part of the Ole Miss Tournament with Nicholls State and TennesseeMartin, Feb. 1011 in Oxford.
