Lady Rebel Volleyball Defeats Arkansas State, 3-0

JONESBORO, Ark. - The Ole Miss volleyball team took a brief break from their SEC schedule to defeat Arkansas State, 15-7, 16-14, 15-9, on Tuesday, and improve their overall record to 7-7.
The Lady Rebels were led by senior outside hitter Kira Zschau who posted a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Erin Newsom also had a strong match for Ole Miss as she contributed five kills, seven digs and seven blocks.
Junior right-side hitter Leigh Rittiner recorded seven kills and six blocks and junior middle blocker Abby Hollander added six kills and six blocks.
Senior setter Renata Nowacki paced the Lady Rebels with 36 assists. Freshman outside hitter Karla Zschau tallied nine kills and sophomore outside hitter Erica Tricco collected eight digs.
Arkansas State was led by Susanne Snipes who registered 15 kills and 11 digs and Teddi Chowen who had 27 assists. The loss drops the Indians to 9-5 on the season.
Ole Miss will return to action Friday, when the host Georgia at 7 p.m., in their home-opener. The Lady Rebels will be looking for their first SEC win of the season after falling to 0-2 in conference play by dropping matches to Tennessee and Kentucky last weekend.
