Lady Rebel Volleyball Travels To Kansas

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss volleyball team will travel to Lawrence, Kan., this weekend to play in the Hampton Inn/Jayhawk Classic hosted by the University of Kansas. For the Lady Rebels the tournament will be the second straight non-conference tournament they play in after competing in the Hampton Inn/UTSA Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, last weekend.

In the UTSA tournament, setter Renata Nowacki, a Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada, native, led Ole Miss to a third place finish and a 2-2 record. The 5'9 senior was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 11.19 assists per game and 2.94 digs per game in the four matches.

Outside hitters Jaime Burns and Kira Zschau also had strong performances for the Lady Rebels. Burns, a junior, tallied 63 kills and 38 digs for Ole Miss, while Zschau, a senior, recorded 46 kills and 35 digs.

Ole Miss will begin tournament play against Furman at 10 a.m. Friday. The Lady Rebels will return to action later that afternoon when they go against West Virginia at 2:30 p.m. On Saturday, Ole Miss will take on East Carolina at 2:30 p.m., before taking on the host Jayhawks at 7 p.m.

Ole Miss' home-opener is Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. against Georgia.
