ALABAMA POSTGAME NOTES
* Alabama suffers its first loss to Ole Miss since 1988 and its first-ever loss to the Rebels here in Oxford. The Rebels last win over Alabama was a 22-12 win on Oct. 8, 1988, spoiling the Crimson Tide's homecoming at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Rebels had also never beaten the Crimson Tide here in Oxford until today. In fact, Ole Miss' last win over Alabama in the state of Mississippi came on Sept. 11, 1976 at Jackson's Mississippi Memorial Stadium. Hoppy Langley's fourth quarter field goal lifted UM over Alabama in the season opener.
*Alabama has lost its second straight SEC road game after blowing its second straight double-digit lead in the fourth quarter. Alabama owned a 24-14 lead today before Ole Miss scored two touchdowns in the final 9:24 to claim a 27-24 win. Against South Carolina (Sept. 29), Alabama blew a 36-24 lead with less than seven minutes to play and lost 37-36. Ole Miss scored on a three-yard pass play to win today's game with 46 seconds left in the game. At South Carolina, the Gamecocks scored the game-winner with 2:18 left in the game.
*The Alabama offense managed only 17 total yards in the fourth quarter against Ole Miss. The Tide ran the ball seven times for 17 yards and not complete any of its seven pass attempts in the final 15 minutes.
*When Alabama scored with 7:42 left in the first quarter, it marked the third straight game the Tide scored on its opening drive of the game. The 86-yard drive tied the longest scoring drive of the season. Alabama had an 86-yarder against South Carolina.
* Sam Collins scored his first career touchdown this afternoon when he hauled in a 58-yard pass from Tyler Watts with 4:50 remaining in the second quarter.
*Tyler Watts ran 13 times for 110 yards, his third consecutive 100-yard rushing game. He is the only quarterback in school history to post three straight 100 yard games. Watts completed only seven of 24 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw one interception.
*In addition, Watts joins Pat Trammell (1959-61) as the only to quarterbacks in school history to post three career 100-yard rushing games. Trammell had 100 or more yards against Tulane (143 vs. Tulane, 1959), UT Chattanooga (106 yards, 1959) and Vanderbilt (110 yards, 1961).
*Junior tailback Ahmaad Galloway ran 16 times for 61 yards and scored one touchdown today against Ole Miss. Galloway now has 1,194 career rushing yards at Alabama, good for 29th place on the all-time rushing list.
*Alabama's second quarter field goal marked the first time in 10 possessions the Crimson Tide failed to score a touchdown in the red zone. Alabama scored a TD on its last possession at South Carolina and converted all eight possesions into TDs last week against UTEP. Alabama made its 10 in-a-row this afternoon after a first-quarter touchdown, a six-yard run by Galloway.
