Lady Rebel Netter Reaches Quarterfinals At Omni Hotels South Regional

MOBILE, Ala. - Mira Radu of the Ole Miss women's tennis team downed Anca Dumitrescu of Florida State 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the quarterfinals at the Omni Hotels South Regional Championships Saturday. Radu will get an opportunity to avenge an earlier loss this year, when she faces Viktoria Stoklasova of South Alabama Sunday at 9 a.m.
In their earlier meeting this fall, Stoklasova defeated Radu 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the semifinals of the Tulane Greenwave Classic. Radu, seeded No. 8 in the tournament, pushed her record to an impressive 16-4 this fall with Saturday's win.
In other third round singles action, Sabrina Peppl, who posted the biggest upset of the tournament (defeating No. 3 seed Lori Grey) on Friday, lost to Florida's Annika Bengtsson 6-4, 6-3. Alesya Ignatieva dropped her match to Agata Cioroch of Georgia, 6-0, 6-4.
Ole Miss lost all three of its second-round doubles matches in Flight "A", but Camilla Gould and Agathe DeRouck reached the semifinals in Flight "B" doubles. In the second round the pair defeated Ashlee Callahan and Patricia Kolendo of South Florida 8-6 and then in the quarterfinals, they held off Justyne Switala and Yumi Ueda of Mississippi State 9-8(4).

Second round -- Bengtsson/Alexis Gordon (UF) def. Radu/Karem Harboe (OM) 8-6, Tina Hojnik/Anne Nguyen (UGA) def. Audra Adams/Ignatieva (OM) 8-6, Lindsey Dawaf/Julia Scaringe (UF) def. Florencia Basile/Peppl (OM) 8-4.
FLIGHT "B" DOUBLES
Second round - Agathe DeRouck/Camilla Gould (OM) def. Ashlee Callahan/Patricia Kolendo (USF) 8-6. Quarterfinals - DeRouck/Gould (OM) def. Justyne Switala/Yumi Ueda (MSU) 9-8(4).
