Lady Rebels Take Second Place at Capstone Intercollegiate

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - After a slow start in the first round on Friday, the Ole Miss women's golf team stormed back in the final two rounds of competition to take a second place finish in the Alabama Capstone Intercollegiate on Sunday with a 337-322-312-971.
Ole Miss had three players finish in the top 20 of individual play at the par-72, 6,128-yard course.
The Lady Rebels were led by the strong play of sophomore Teesha Ash. Ash shot an 86-77-76-239 for the three day tournament to tie for the No. 11 spot in the tournament. Ash also pushed her team to a first place finish in the USF/Beacon Woods Invitational two weeks ago.
"I am really excited about what we have done as a team the last two tournaments," said Ole Miss head coach Meghan Bolger. "We knew after the second day of competition that we were in a position to do some damage in the tournament and we did that. It was exciting to watch this team fight back the last two days."
Following on Ash's heels were junior Kerrie Davis and senior Elizabeth Hoffman. Davis turned in a solid performance for the tournament with a 84-79-77-240 to tie for the No. 13 spot in the field. Hoffman claimed part of the No. 17 spot with a three day performance of 83-83-76-242.
The Lady Rebels will close out the fall season at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Women's Intercollegiate at Kiawah Island, S.C. on November 5-6.
