Rebels' Williams Undergoes Knee Surgery Friday

OXFORD, Miss. - ,Ole Miss junior running back Robert Williams underwent arthoscopic surgery Friday to remove a partial meniscus tear in his left knee. Williams sustained the injury during last Saturday's game at Kentucky.

Williams will miss Saturday's game at Arkansas State, and is out indefinitely.

The 5-foot-10, 192-pound junior from Gadsden, Ala., had appeared in all three of Ole Miss' games this season. He had carried 24 times for 101 yards and a score, and had one reception for seven yards while providing back-up to senior Joe Gunn. Williams also returned four kickoffs for 84 yards and two punts for 10 yards.

Saturday's game at Arkansas State is scheduled for 6 p.m., at Indian State in Jonesboro. The Rebels are scheduled to play their first home game since the Sept. 1 season opener against Murray State the following weekend, when Ole Miss will host Alabama in a Southeastern Conference match-up.
