PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Mira Radu of the Ole Miss women's tennis team advanced to the qualifying tournament at the prestigious Riviera All-American Championships Sunday at the Riviera Country Club.

Radu defeated Texas A&M's Marjorie Terburgh 6-2, 1-0 in the final round of pre-qualifying. With the win Radu is now 8-2 on the season and will open play in the qualifying tournament Tuesday.

"We are very proud of Mira winning through to the qualifying tournament at the Riviera All-American Championships, the most prestigious collegiate grand slam," retiring Lady Rebel head coach Jerry Montgomery said. "She will have a great year, because she is more physically fit, and mentally tougher. Mira has always possessed world-class talent, and it is great to see her finally benefit from her hard work and sacrifice."

The premier hard court event of the fall collegiate season, the Riviera Women's All-American Championships feature the top players in NCAA Division I tennis. This year's event is highlighted by nine of the top 10 players in the country. Main Draw competition begins Oct. 11 and continues through Oct. 14.
