GEORGIA

*HAYNES: Senior Verron Haynes, getting a start at tailback today after eight career starts at fullback, set career highs with 26 carries for 192 yards and 2 TDS including a long gain of 26 yards . His previous high was 14-for-86 yards against Kentucky this year.

It was the most rushing yards by a Georgia running back since 1992 when Garrison Hearst ran for 246 yards on 21 carries in a 30-20 win over Vanderbilt. Georgia's rushing total of 268 yards today was the most by the Bulldogs since collecting 289 yards against Kent State in 1998. Georgia's best rushing total last season was 266, coming against Ole Miss.

*PHILLIPS: Senior rover Jermaine Phillips notched his team-leading third interception this season and returned it 82 yards for a TD, the fourth longest INT return for a TD in school history. It was the longest INT return for a TD since 1962 when Joe Burson took one 87 yards against Auburn.

Prior to today, the last time a Bulldog returned an INT for a TD was last season when Tim Wansley took one back 35 yards against Ole Miss.

*EDWARDS: Junior split end Terrence Edwards (2 rec., 23 yards, 1 TD) moved up to 3rd in the Bulldog record book for Career Receiving Yards now with 1,989, passing Juan Daniels' 1,975 (1993-96). Edwards has 18 career TD catches, one shy of the school mark held by Brice Hunter (19 from 1992-94).

*RUN: In Georgia's first TD of the second half, the nine-play drive featured all running the plays, the first time Georgia has done that in its first 27 TD drives this season.

*STARTERS: Junior fullback J.T. Wall, sophomore tight guard Chris Hewitt and sophomore noseguard Ken Veal made their first career starts...True freshman David Pollack made his second straight start at defensive tackle while sophomore Jonathan Sullivan, normally a DT (6 starts) made his second straight start at "Buck."

SERIES: Georgia leads the 61-year-old series with the Rebels 27-12-1 including a current five-game winning streak.

99: Georgia players and coaches wore a number 99 sticker today on the back of their helmets and front of their caps in honor of junior DT David Jacobs, who is at Emory Hospital in Atlanta undergoing tests for an illness.

OLE MISS

SERIES NOTES
* Today's game was the 40th all-time between Ole Miss and Georgia dating back to 1940.
* The Bulldogs now lead the series, 27-12-1, including 8-5 in Oxford.
* Georgia has now won five straight in the series, the longest in the series since the Bulldogs won 12 straight meetings against Ole Miss from 1977-1988.

TEAM NOTES
* Today's game was Ole Miss' first against a ranked team this season, and the first since last year's Egg Bowl when the Rebels defeated the 23rd ranked Bulldogs, 45-30 in Oxford.
* The 82-yard interception return by Georgia's Jermaine Phillips in the fourth quarter marked the first time an opposing player had returned an interception for a TD against Ole Miss since the Bulldogs' Tim Wansley returned an interception 35 yards for a score in last year's game in Athens.

35-of-47 passing, 233 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT
* Extended his school record streak of consecutive games with a TD pass to 10 with a nine-yard TD pass to Jason Armstead in the first quarter.
* Has thrown for at least 200 yards in all nine games this season, a school record for consecutive 200-yard passing games.
* Set career highs for completions (35) and passing attempts (47).
* 74.5 completion percentage is the second-highest single-game mark in school history with a minimum of 40 attempts. Stewart Patridge holds the record with a 76.7 completion percentage when he hit on 33-of-43 passes in a 21-14 loss to Georgia in Oxford on Nov. 22, 1997.
* With two TD passes this afternoon, has thrown at least two TD passes in 7-of-9 games this season and in four straight. Manning has thrown 14 TD passes in the last four games.
* His two TD passes gives him 25 TD responsible for this season, putting him alone in second place on the Ole Miss single-season list and two shy of the single-season mark of 27 set by Charlie Conerly in 1947. Manning entered the day tied for second with his father, Archie Manning, at 23.
* The two TD passes boosts his school single-record total to 25.
* 35 completions gives him 220 for the season, moving him into second place on the school single-season list and eight shy of Stewart Patridge's record of 228 set in 1997.
* Moved into second place on the school single-season list for passing yards with 2,449. He needs 218 yards to tie Stewart Patridge's 1997 record of 2,667.

OFFENSIVE NOTES
* Ole Miss senior TE Doug Zeigler left the game in the second quarter with a broken right fore arm.
* Senior WR Jamie Armstrong scored his first TD of the season with an 18-yard TD pass from Manning in the fourth quarter. It was also his first TD reception since last December's Music City Bowl.
* Junior WR Jason Armstead set season highs for receptions (7) and receiving yards (73). He finished with a total of 129 all-purpose yards on 10 touches, one shy of his season high of 130 set in the season opener.
* Redshirt freshman TE Bo Hartsfield caught his first pass since the season opener with a 26-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
* Ole Miss' 28 yards rushing was the Rebels' lowest total since Alabama limited them to 26 yards on Oct. 19, 1996.

DEFENSIVE NOTES
* Sophomore DB Von Hutchins and redshirt freshman LB Rob Robertson both intercepted their first career passes this afternoon.
* The Rebels have intercepted pass in 8-of-9 games this season and in 18 of the last 19 dating back to last year's game at Vanderbilt on Sept. 16.

SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
* Redshirt freshman P Cody Ridgeway boomed a career-long 75-yard punt in the third quarter. It was the longest punt an Ole Miss player since Lonny Calicchio's 79-yarder against Auburn on Sept. 2, 1995. It is the second-longest in the SEC this season behind Vanderbilt's Joe Webb's 78-yarder versus Alabama on Sept. 8.
* Sophomore K Lee Rogers missed his first career field goal attempt on a 48-yarder in the second quarter. He later made his first career field goal when he connected on a 37-yarder with 1:22 left in the first half.
