Ole Miss To Host SE Louisiana Tuesday

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss will continue its nine-game season-opening homestand Tuesday with a 3 p.m. game versus SE Louisiana, weather permitting. The Rebels and Lions are also scheduled to play Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Ole Miss opened the Mike Bianco-era this past weekend by taking 2-of-3 from Arkansas-Little Rock in Oxford.. Freshman infielder Matt Tolbert led the Rebels at the plate, going 5-for-9 with two doubles, a triple and three runs scored. Senior third baseman Lance Jones was 5-for-12 with four doubles, a RBI and three runs scored.

Senior right-hander Ronnie Goodwin is scheduled to start for Ole Miss Tuesday. Goodwin worked the final three innings in game one of last Saturday's doubleheader with UALR to earn the save. He allowed one run on four hits and struck out three.

SE Louisiana is 5-2 on the season after winning 2-of-3 from Samford in Hammond, La., this past weekend. The Lions opened their season on Feb. 2 with a three-game sweep of Centenary.

As a team, SE Louisiana is hitting .326 with four home runs and 53 RBI. Senior outfielder Preston Hayes is the team's top hitter with a .409 average and has recorded seven RBI.

The Lions are scheduled to start junior left-hander Chris Gonzales on Tuesday. Gonzales is 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA in two relief appearances this season.

In Wednesday's game, freshman right-hander Adam Yates (0-0, 20.25 ERA) is scheduled to start for Ole Miss against junior southpaw Chris O'Brien (0-0, 18.69 ERA).
