Ole Miss In Second In Louisiana

MANDEVILLE, La. - The Ole Miss men's golf team is in second place after day one the Beau Chene Collegiate Classic, hosted by Southeastern Louisiana on Monday. The Rebels fired a two-round total of 569(283-286--569) and are two shots back of tournament leader, Southeastern Louisiana. The Lions fired an opening day score of 286-281--567.

J.J. Thompson, a junior college transfer from Minot, N.D., led the way for the Rebels with a 70-69--139, for a second-place tie. Troy Muller, a native of Braithwaite, La., is tied for seventh place with a 70-72--142. Tommy Clement shot a 73-71--144 for a 14th place tie. Brenden Fisher is also tied for 14th position with a 70-74--144. Andrew Medley is tied for 50thplace with a 75-77--152.

Thompson trails Southeastern Louisiana's Jacques Chevallier by two strokes for medalist honors. Chevallier fired a opening day total of 66-71--137.

The final round will be played on Tuesday at the Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville, La.
