TEAM NOTES: Southern Miss enters the Ole Miss Invitational ranked No. 20 by Collegiate Baseball, No. 21 by CollegeSportsNews.com, No. 25 by Baseball America and No. 31 by USA Today Baseball Weekly Coaches Poll. This marks the second time in Southern Miss history that the Golden Eagles have been ranked and first time that they have appeared in more than one national poll ... The Golden Eagles enter the Invitational on an eight-game winning streak dating back to Feb. 16. This marks the longest winning streak of the season and the longest since 1997 when USM ran off 12 straight ... Senior preseason All-American Michael Artman is hitting .275 with a home run and five runs batted in. He leads the team in walks (12), on-base percentage (.491) and is fourth on the team in slugging percentage (.419) ... Sophomore outfielder Jeff Cook is the only Golden Eagle to finish with at least one hit in every game this season. He leads the team in at bats (50), runs scored (12), hits (19), doubles (7), slugging percentage (.700), tied for home run lead (3) and is second in RBIs (11) ... Senior outfielder Dusty Haley is tied with Cook for the season home run lead with three. Haley is in the school's top five in home runs (37) and Conference USA's top 10 charts. He needs nine more homers to become the school's all-time home run leader. He leads the team in runs batted in (14) ... Catcher Darren Welch is hitting .318 this season. He has thrown out eight runners this year (5/13) and picked off two others. He leads the team in triples (2), second in slugging percentage (.523) and third in on-base percentage (.434) ... The ERA for the Southern Miss pitching staff is 2.58. In 108 innings pitched, the staff has a 9-3 record, one complete game, one shared shutout, four saves, 92 strikeouts and 39 walks ... There are three pitchers with a 0.00 ERA led by starting southpaw Shea Douglas, who has yet to yield an extra base hit. He has pitched 14.0 innings, giving up five singles, striking out 19 and walking only three. Closer Anthony Rawson has posted three saves in seven innings of work.
