Ole Miss Baseball To Host Invitational This Weekend

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss will host its own four-team invitational tournament this weekend at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. The Rebels will first play St. Francis (NY) at 6:30 p.m., Friday evening.
Arizona (13-8) and Southern Miss (9-3) will open the three-day, Ole Miss Invitational with a Friday afternoon game at 2:30 p.m. All games will be played at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. Fans wishing to attend both games each day need to have one ticket, per person, for each day.
Ole Miss (9-3) will play Arizona on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., in a game that was originally scheduled for 1 p.m., but was moved to avoid conflicts with the Ole Miss-Alabama men's basketball game slated for 3 p.m., at the Tad Smith Coliseum. The Rebels will conclude the tournament with a Sunday afternoon game against in-state rival Southern Miss at 4 p.m.
Junior right-hander Pete Montrenes is scheduled to start Friday's game for Ole Miss against the Terriers. Montrenes is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA and has struck out 25 in 20 innings pitched.
St. Francis will be opening its season against the Rebels. The Terriers, members of the Northeast Conference, went 11-24 last season. Junior right-hander Jason Fardella is slated to start against Ole Miss. Last season, he finished fifth in the nation with a 1.88 ERA.
Starting with Friday's game with St. Francis, Ole Miss is scheduled to play eight of its next nine games at home.
All three Ole Miss games this weekend can be heard throughout northwest Mississippi on WTNM Supertalk Mississippi 105.5 FM, and over the internet at www.OleMissSports.com. Sunday's game with Southern Miss will be carried over the Ole Miss Baseball Network.
