Ole Miss Prepares For Lady Gamecock Classic

OXFORD, Miss. - Coming off a 15th place finish at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational on Feb. 23-25, the Ole Miss women's golf team is preparing to travel to Columbia, S.C., to play in the 2001 Lady Gamecock Classic Friday-Sunday. The 36-hole event will be played at the University Club in Columbia.

The tournament field consists of Alabama, Duke, Florida, Furman, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, North Carolina, and Wake Forest.

The Lady Rebels fired a season-best round of 301 at the Lady Gator Invitational. Their previous best was 305 in the opening round of the Lady Rebel Intercollegiate on Sept. 22-24, 2000.

Teresa Brown leads the Lady Rebels in stroke average with a 77.80 average. Elizabeth Hoffman ranks second on the team with a 79.13 average. Kerrie Davis, a sophomore from New Orleans, La., fired a season-best round of 74 in the second round of the Lady Gator Invitational.

Following this weekend's action, Ole Miss will be back in action on March 30-April 1, at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, hosted by the University of Georgia.
