LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Ole Miss softball team split its doubleheader with Kentucky Saturday, dominating game one 12-0 and losing game two 7-1. The finale of the three-game set is Sunday at noon (CT).

In game one, Ole Miss (15-18, 2-3 SEC) scored nine runs in the fifth inning, eight with two outs, in what was the Rebels' biggest offensive inning of the year. The 12 runs tied the second highest single-game total in school history and the most since Apr. 16, 1997, the program's inaugural season.

Four different Rebels notched two or more hits led by sophomore Jessica Hamilton, who hit 3-for-4 with two RBI. Hamilton, Kristi DiMarco and Jennifer Poore each had two hits in the fifth inning alone.

Lindsay Price (5-5) hurled her second career shutout in the five-inning affair, which was ended on the eight-run mercy rule. Price, a sophomore from Terry, Miss., surrendered only two hits and one walk.

Game two saw Ole Miss jump out to 1-0 lead on a second-inning solo home run by Desiree Layman. It was the second round-tripper of the year and second RBI of the day for the freshman from West Palm Beach, Fla.

The Wildcats (16-18, 3-6 SEC) responded with three runs in the third and four in the fifth to pull away. Andrea Eilertson blasted a three-run homer and Angie Dal Pozzo a two-run shot to lead the UK barrage.

Morgan Marr (10-7) allowed four hits in the Kentucky victory, while Jennifer Hughes (7-7) dropped her fourth straight start.

For the Rebels, Hamilton finished the twin bill 4-for-6, while Jamie Cummings went 3-for-6.
