Women's Tennis To Host Alabama Tuesday

OXFORD, Miss. - The 29th-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team will try for its second SEC win of the season as they host 44th-ranked Alabama Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

Ole Miss comes into the match with a 7-8 overall record, 1-5 in the SEC. They are coming off a tough 4-3 loss at 26th-ranked South Carolina last Friday. The two teams split the singles matches with Ole Miss claiming wins at the top two spots. Julie DeRoo came back to beat Jennifer Radman and freshman Hanna-Katri Aalto picked up a solid win defeating Katarina Markovski in three sets.

Alabama enters Tuesday's match with a 9-7 overall record, 2-6 in the SEC. The Crimson Tide lost to Georgia 6-1 on Saturday. They beat Mississippi State 6-1 and Auburn 4-3 for their two conference victories. Alabama is led by Emmanuelle Berard, who is ranked No. 48 in the nation in singles.

Ole Miss leads the series between the two schools an impressive 23-5. The Lady Rebels have won 20 in a row. Alabama's last win in the series came in 1980, a 7-2 victory. Ole Miss downed the Crimson Tide 8-1 last year in Tuscaloosa, and 9-0 two years ago in Oxford.
