OXFORD, Miss. - No. 20 Georgia (19-8, 7-4 SEC) scored six runs in the first inning en route to snapping Ole Miss' seven-game SEC win streak with a 10-6 victory in front of 3,701 Saturday afternoon at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

The Rebels (22-8-1, 8-3 SEC) won Friday's series-opener 6-4 and the two teams will play the rubber-match with a 1:00 p.m., game on Sunday.

The first seven batters of the game reached base for Georgia as Ole Miss starter Mike Gray was lifted after facing just five batters. Mark Thornhill put the Bulldogs up 2-0 with a two-run single, and after a Doc Brooks' RBI double, Adam Swann hit a two-run double to left center to make it 5-0. Lee Mitchell capped the scoring with a single to score Swann.

Trailing 7-2, Ole Miss plated three runs on three hits and took advantage of a Bulldog error to pull within 7-5 and chase Georgia starter Scott Murphy.

However, Jeffery Carswell (6-0) came on in relief and allowed just one run on three hits and one walk while working a career-long 6 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win. He also struck out six.

Gray (2-1) was charged with the loss, as all five batters he faced scored during the six-run first.

Six Georgia players recorded two hits each as the Bulldogs out-hit the Rebels 14-8.

Brooks hit his fifth home run of the season with a lead-off home run in the seventh to extend the Georgia lead to 10-5.

Clint Farrar went 2-for-5 for Ole Miss and hit his first home run of the year with a solo shot in the seventh to score the only Rebel run off Carswell.
