FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Ole Miss senior Savante' Stringfellow won his first NCAA Indoor title by jumping 26-6.25 on Friday at the 2001 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Stringfellow, who won the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Long Jump title, finished 10th last season. The Jackson, Miss., native led throughout the competition, earning his best leap on his last jump.

"I think this is another case of Savante' rising to the occasion," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "He really took it to the competition early, and then had his finest jump on his last attempt. It was a great performance by a great athlete."

Ole Miss senior Teneeshia Jones added two more All-American titles to her resume by finishing sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.31) and eighth in the 200 meters (23.76). Jones also qualified for Saturday's final in the 60 meters. She was the only female athlete to make the finals in all three events (60 meters, 60-meter hurdles and 200 meters).

"Teneeshia had a great day," said Walker. "She is really looking forward to Saturday's final."

James Shelton qualified for Saturday's 60 meter final. Shelton, a sophomore, ran 6.66 on Friday's prelims to move into the finals on Saturday.
