Ole Miss starter Dan McShea pitched three scoreless innings before being lifted due to a pitch count. He held the Golden Eagles to two hits, walked none, and struck out one. McShea is expected to start Sunday at LSU.

USM starter Daniel Stewart (2-3) was charged with the loss, allowing six runs, four earned, on six hits and two walks, while striking out seven.

Center fielder Dusty Haley went 2-for-4 for the Golden Eagles with four RBI. He hit a three-run home run in the fourth to tie the game at 3-3, and later added a RBI single during a six-run seventh inning to pull USM to within 10-8. The home run was Haley's sixth of the season.

The Golden Eagles sent 10 batters to the plate during the six-run seventh, as the first five batters of the inning reached safely. Michael Artman hit a two-run single to make it 10-6 and Darren Welch later added a RBI single to cut the Rebels' lead to 10-7. Haley followed with his RBI single and a batter later, Allen Winningham capped the inning with a RBI single to score Welch. Haley was thrown out on the play after taking a wide turn at third after a wild throw from the outfield, and was tagged out in a run down to end the inning with Ole Miss holding a 10-9 lead.

The Rebels added an insurance run in the ninth, and freshman Adam Yates pitched two scoreless innings to earn his fourth save of the year.

Ole Miss will next open a three-game Southeastern Conference series Friday night in Baton Rouge against LSU. The Rebels and Tigers enter the weekend tied for first place in the overall SEC standings with 10-5 conference marks.
