IN THE POLLS: Ole Miss is ranked in all three major college baseball polls for the fourth consecutive week. The Rebels are as high as No. 18 in Baseball America, down two spots from the previous week. Ole Miss also dropped two places to No. 22 in Collegiate Baseball's Top 30, and six notches in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Top 25 to No. 22. LSU enters this weekend's series ranked No. 2 by both Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball, and No. 3 in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Top 25.

LAST TIME OUT: Ole Miss scored three runs in the fifth to break a 3-3 tie and added four more in the sixth to build a 10-3 lead before holding on to defeat in-state rival Southern Miss, 11-9, Wednesday night in front of 3,662 at Pete Taylor Park. The win gave the Rebels a sweep of the two-game season series. Juniors Josh Christian and Burney Hutchinson recorded three hits a piece, with Christian's being all doubles, and sophomore Chad Sterbens went 1x4 with a career-high four RBI to lead Ole Miss at the plate. Junior RHP Michael Posey, the second of five Ole Miss pitchers on the night, pitched three innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk, while striking out three. After USM rallied for six runs in the seventh to pull within 10-9, freshman RHP Adam Yates pitched two scoreless innings to record his fourth save of the year. Senior RHP Dan McShea started the game for Ole Miss, and pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out one in using 39 pitches.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS: LSU enters this weekend's series 25-10-1 overall, 10-5 in the SEC and tied with Ole Miss for the best conference mark. The Tigers are second in the SEC in hitting (.320) and HRs (52). LSU has six regulars hitting over .310 led by sophomore INF Mike Fontenot's .380 (38x100) average. Junior transfer Todd Linden leads the team in HRs (8) and RBI (37). Tiger pitchers have a team ERA of 4.62 (327.1 IP, 168 ER), and opponents are hitting .272 (346x1,274) against him.

SERIES INFO: Tonight's meeting is the 278th all-time between Ole Miss and LSU ... the Tigers lead the series 150-127 ... Ole Miss is 74-57 all-time against LSU in Oxford, but 52-90 in Baton Rouge and 1-3 at neutral sites ... LSU has won four of the last five SEC series, including two straight ... the Tigers won last year's series 2-1 in Oxford and won 2-of-3 from the Rebels when the two teams last met in Baton Rouge in 1999 ... Ole Miss' last series win came in 1998 in Oxford, 2-1 ... the Tigers have won the last 10 SEC series played in Baton Rouge with the Rebels last series win here coming in 1982, 2-1 ... this weekend's series will be Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco's first against LSU as coach of the Rebels ... Bianco went 2-3 against the Tigers in his three years at McNeese State (1998-2000), including winning both of last year's meetings, 9-8 in Baton Rouge on Feb. 22 and 4-3 in Lake Charles, La., on May 2 ... LSU head coach Skip Bertman has compiled a 45-13 record versus the Rebels in his 18 years with LSU.

AFTER 37 GAMES LAST YEAR: Ole Miss was 23-14 after 37 games last season ... The Rebels had a .286 batting average (373x1,303) with 31 HRs, 200 RBI, 63 doubles and six triples ... Ole Miss had outscored its opponents 222-191 ... The Rebels stole 35-of-51 bases and had hit into 21 double plays ... Ole Miss pitchers had a 4.37 ERA (327.2 IP, 159 ER), allowing 329 hits, including 26 HRs, walked 141 and struck out 243 ... The Rebels had committed 51 errors and turned 28 double plays.

REBEL DIAMOND NOTES: Tonight's game is the fifth of a season-long seven-game road swing. Ole Miss is currently 2-2 on the road trip after defeating Southern Miss, 11-9, Wednesday evening in Hattiesburg ... Ole Miss and LSU enter this weekend's series tied for the overall SEC lead with 10-5 conference marks, one game ahead of Alabama, Florida, Mississippi State and Tennessee ... The Rebels are two SEC wins shy of equaling last season's total when they finished 12-17 inside the conference ... The Rebels lead the SEC in triples with 14 ... Ole Miss is also tied for the conference lead with 22 sac bunts after ranking dead last with seven in 55 games last season ... Ole Miss pitchers have not thrown a wild pitch in 17 consecutive games dating back to a Mar. 14 game against Murray State. As a staff, the Rebels have thrown the fewest wild pitches in the SEC at nine ... The Rebels tied a season-high with six doubles against USM, including three from junior 1B Josh Christian ... Ole Miss had a total of a season-high eight extra-base hits (6 2Bs, 1 3B, 1 HR) in the win over the Golden Eagles, bettering its previous high of seven set in a 20-9 win during a seven-inning game versus SE Louisiana on Feb. 14 in Oxford. The Rebels batted .234 (25x107) as a team in its series loss to Arkansas this past weekend, while the Razorbacks batted .327 (36x110).
