IN THE POLLS: Ole Miss is ranked in all three major college baseball polls for the fourth consecutive week. The Rebels are as high as No. 18 in Baseball America, down two spots from the previous week. Ole Miss also dropped two places to No. 22 in Collegiate Baseball's Top 30, and six notches in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Top 25 to No. 22. LSU enters this weekend's series ranked No. 2 by both Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball, and No. 3 in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Top 25.

LAST TIME OUT: No. 2 LSU scored six runs on just two hits while sending 10 batters to the plate in the fifth inning en route to a 15-2 win over No. 18 Ole Miss last night in this weekend's series-opener. The loss dropped the Rebels one-game behind the Tigers for first place in the overall SEC standings, and into a second-place tie with Alabama in the SEC Western Division. After holding the Tigers to one run on three hits through the first four innings, Rebel starter Pete Montrenes (7-3) struggled with his control in the fifth. He walked five straight batters, including three with the bases loaded, to put LSU on top 4-1. The Tigers added three more runs in the inning and tacked on three in the sixth, two in the seventh and three more in the eighth for the 15-2 final. Tiger starter Jason Scobie (2-1) worked eight complete innings to earn the win, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits and one walk, and striking out five. Ten different LSU players recorded a hit, including three by 2B Mike Fontenot, as the Tigers out-hit the Rebels 13-7. Senior 3B Lance Jones went 3-for-3 for Ole Miss, driving in both Rebel runs and hit his fifth HR of the season with a solo shot in the sixth.

SERIES INFO: Today's meeting is the 279th all-time between Ole Miss and LSU ... the Tigers lead the series 151-127 ... Ole Miss is 74-57 all-time against LSU in Oxford, but 52-91 in Baton Rouge and 1-3 at neutral sites ... the Rebels are 8-31 against the Tigers since 1990, including 2-15 in Baton Rouge ... LSU has won four of the last five SEC series, including two straight ... the Tigers won last year's series 2-1 in Oxford and won 2-of-3 from the Rebels when the two teams last met in Baton Rouge in 1999 ... AFTER 38 GAMES LAST YEAR: Ole Miss was 23-15 after 38 games last season ... The Rebels had a .285 batting average (381x1,339) with 31 HRs, 202 RBI, 63 doubles and six triples ... Ole Miss had outscored its opponents 226-201 ... The Rebels stole 35-of-52 bases and had hit into 21 double plays ... Ole Miss pitchers had a 4.34 ERA (335.2 IP, 162 ER), allowing 341 hits, including 27 HRs, walked 147 and struck out 250 ... The Rebels had committed 55 errors and turned 29 double plays.

REBEL DIAMOND NOTES:
* Today's game is the sixth of a season-long seven-game road swing for Ole Miss. The Rebels 2-3 on the trip after losing 15-2 last night.
* Ole Miss is hitting .246 as a team during the current road trip, and has a team ERA of 7.07.
* For the season, the Rebels are batting .286 on the road with 13 HRs and have a team ERA of 5.00 ERA, compared to hitting .303 at home with 21 HRs and a 3.53 ERA.
