OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's basketball squad held its annual postseason awards banquet Tuesday at Abbeville Catfish, and seniors Becky Myatt and Stephanie Murphy claimed the top two awards.

Myatt, a Bon Aqua, Tenn., native, took home Most Valuable Player honors. She led the team in scoring (11.7), three-pointers (2.1) and minutes played (31.7). Myatt became the 19th Lady Rebel to score 1,000 points in a career and finished with 1,193 points. In addition, Myatt became the career three-point leader with 232 threes. Named to the Associated Press All-SEC Honorable Mention team, Myatt ranked among the SEC leaders in scoring, three-pointers and free-throw percentage. Off the court, Myatt was a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and was named to the 2001 SEC Good Works Team.

Murphy, a native of Webb, Miss., earned the team's Lady Rebel Award, which is given to the player who excels on and off the court. Murphy battled injuries throughout her career, including tearing her ACL in the Alabama game this year, but still played in more than 100 games. She graduated from the University of Mississippi last May, but came back for her senior year. Murphy is enrolled in graduate classes in Higher Education and Student Personnel. She is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Junior TaShondrea Moton received the Scholar-Athlete Award. Moton has been a member of the Chancellor's Honor Roll and is a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection. The Marketing major was named the Cellular South Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2000 Arkansas State football game and was featured in the game program.

Saundra Jackson (Beaufort, S.C.) won the Most Improved Award, Sherika Wright (Augusta, Ga.) and Tywanna Inmon (West Memphis, Ark.) shared the Newcomer Award, and Von Kirk (Huntsville, Ala.) received the Best Defensive Player Award.

Ole Miss posted a 17-13 record and made their 16th postseason appearance with a bid to the WNIT. The Lady Rebels won the Vermont Howard Bank Classic as well as the Beach Classic, and started the season 11-0, their best start since the 1988-89 season.
