OXFORD, Miss. - The 2000 edition of "Ole Miss Football with David Cutcliffe," originated by the University of Mississippi's Teleproduction Resource Center and produced in conjunction with TeleSouth Communications, Inc., has been awarded with a prestigious Telly Award.
"Receiving the Telly Award points out the outstanding quality of work being produced by our Teleproduction Resource Center here on campus," said Ole Miss Athletic Director John Shafer. "This most recent recognition is another example of the great things that are happening at the University of Mississippi. We also appreciate the continued support shown by Steve Davenport and TeleSouth Communications, our marketing partner."
The Telly Awards were founded in 1980 to showcase and give recognition to outstanding non-network and cable TV commercials. The competition was expanded several years ago to include film and video productions as well as non-network TV programming.
In the 22 years since its beginning, the Telly Awards have become a well-known, highly-respected national competition. The Telly has become one of the most sought after awards in the TV, commercial and video industry.
J. Stern is the producer and director of the award winning Ole Miss football show. Others providing work for the show were: Keith Kimmons, on-line editor, Raphael Henry, videographer, Darrel Jordan, chief engineer, Russell Dorriss, maintenance engineer, and Nicole Seale, production assistant. David Kellum, the "Voice of the Rebels," served as host of the show for the 12th season.
"This is a great award for Ole Miss," said Stern. "We all put a lot of hard work into making this a good show, so it is an honor to be rewarded with a Telly."
This is the third Telly award for Ole Miss. Ole Miss received a Telly in 1997 for the Ole Miss football show and again in 1999 for the Ole Miss men's basketball show.
