OXFORD, Miss. -

The No. 35 ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team took the doubles point against 25th-ranked LSU and carried that momentum into singles on their way to a 5-2 win over the Lady Tigers Saturday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

Ole Miss (8-10, 2-8) snapped a four-match losing streak and a five-match SEC winless streak. The Lady Rebels improved to 15-9 overall against LSU (12-7, 3-6) and have now won 10 in a row over the Lady Tigers.

"We were closer to 100 percent today, in beating LSU, than we have been in two months," head coach Jerry Montgomery said. "We had a strong feeling going into the match that today was our day. We are getting healthier. We showed a lot of heart today and stayed focused in closing the match out. It's a victory that all of our players and coaches can share."

LSU's Bruna Colosio and Rocio Fantilli downed Julie DeRoo and Audra Adams 8-1 at No. 1 doubles and then Lady Rebels' Mira Radu and Karem Harboe dominated Tami Botts and Lauren Haddix 8-2 on court three. Hanna-Katri Aalto and Alesya Ignatieva led 6-5 against Amy McIlhaney and Fernanda Tsucamoto at No. 2 doubles. The duo broke LSU's serve, and then Ignatieva held serve to give Ole Miss the point.

Radu was near flawless on court four, winning 6-0, 6-1 over Botts to give the Lady Rebels a 2-0 lead. Freshman Sabrina Peppl defeated McIlhaney 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 singles to make it 3-0 Ole Miss.

Aalto improved to 8-4 at No. 2 singles with an impressive 6-3, 6-2 win over Haddix to clinch the win.

LSU got its first point of the day as ninth-ranked Colosio held off Lady Rebel DeRoo 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. The Lady Tigers secured their second point when Tsucamoto topped Harboe 6-4, 6-4 on court five. Ignatieva finished off the scoring for the Lady Rebels with her 6-4, 6-4 victory against LSU's Fantilli at No. 3 singles.

The Lady Rebels will now get ready to face the No. 3 ranked Florida Lady Gators Friday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
