IN THE POLLS: Ole Miss moved up three spots in this week's Baseball America Top 25 to No. 16, and one spot in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Top 25 to No. 16. The Rebels dropped four spots in Collegiate Baseball's Top 30 to No. 20.

LAST TIME OUT: No. 16 Ole Miss couldn't capitalize on five Arkansas errors, however, the Razorbacks converted the Rebels' lone error of the night into three unearned runs in the seventh inning for a 3-2 win last night in the first of a three-game Southeastern Conference series. After Ole Miss left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, Ryan Fox reached base on a two-base error by Matt Mossberg to start the bottom of the seventh. After starter Pete Montrenes retired the next two batters, that would have ended the inning, Jeff Hoefler walked and Brett Hagedorn singled to left to score Fox and cut the Rebels' lead to 2-1. Brian Kirby then hit a two-run double down the right field line to put the Razorbacks up 3-2. Gary Hogan, Jr. (1-2) held Ole Miss to two runs, one earned, on two hits and three walks, while striking out five to earn the win. Montrenes went the distance in suffering the loss, allowing three unearned runs on six hits and a season-high three walks. He also struck out six. Lance Jones recorded two of the Rebels' three hits to extend his hitting streak to a career-best eight games as Arkansas out-hit Ole Miss 6-3.

SCOUTING THE RAZORBACKS: Arkansas enters tonight's game 17-18 on the season, including 4-9 in the Southeastern Conference. The Razorbacks trail Ole Miss and LSU by five games for first place in the SEC Western Divsion. Last night's win snapped Arkansas' three-game losing streak. Arkansas is hitting .277 (328x1183) as a team, with senior OF Scott Crossett the only regular hitting over .300 (.305). Junior OF Michael Conner has hit a team-high eight HRs, and freshman INF Brett Hagedorn has a team-leading 27 RBI. Razorback pitchers have a team ERA of 4.74 (304.0 IP, 160 ER), and opponents are hitting .248 (290x1169) against them with 27 HRs.

SERIES INFO: Today's game is the 31st all-time between Ole Miss and Arkansas dating back to 1982 ... Arkansas leads the series 21-9 ... the Razorbacks are 11-3 all-time versus the Rebels in Fayetteville, 9-6 in Oxford, and 1-0 at neutral sites (Starkville, Miss., 1995 SEC Western Division Tournament) ... the Razorbacks have won straight against Ole Miss in Fayetteville, sweeping the last two series played here in 1997 and 1999 ... Ole Miss' last win in Fayetteville was 7-2 in 1994, which is also the last time the Rebels won a series here (2-1) ... AFTER 34 GAMES LAST YEAR: Ole Miss was 20-14 after 34 games last season ... The Rebels had a .290 batting average (351x1,212) with 26 HRs, 179 RBI, 61 doubles and five triples ... Ole Miss had outscored its opponents 207-185 ... The Rebels stole 35-of-48 bases and had hit into 20 double plays ... REBEL DIAMOND NOTES:
* Last night's game was the first of a seven straight road games for Ole Miss. In addition to the three games this weekend with Arkansas, the Rebels will play at Southern Miss on Wednesday before opening a three-game SEC series at LSU next Friday night.
* The Rebels have lost eight straight SEC series when losing the first game. Ole Miss last won a series after dropping the Friday game in 1998 when the Rebels came back to win the final two games against LSU in Oxford.
* Last night's 3-2 loss dropped the Rebels to 8-2 in one-run games this season, and 12-3 in games decided by two runs or less.
