PROBABLE PITCHING MATCH-UPS VS. MISSISSIPPI STATE (TV/RADIO LISTINGS)
Saturday: Tanner Brock (Jr., R, 7-1, 3.08) vs. TBA (Ole Miss Radio Network, airtime 6:15 p.m.)
Sunday: TBA vs. TBA (Ole Miss Radio Network, airtime 1:45 p.m.)

IN THE POLLS: Ole Miss is ranked in all three major college baseball polls for the eighth straight week. The Rebels' highest ranking is No. 20 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30. Ole Miss is ranked No. 22 in the Baseball America Top 25 and No. 23 in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Top 25 ... Mississippi State enters this weekend's series unranked in any of the three polls.

SCHEDULE CHANGES: Tomorrow's game has been moved from 4 p.m., to 6:30 p.m., due to graduation ceremonies taking place on the Ole Miss campus, and Sunday's start time has been pushed back one hour to 2 p.m., due to the championship match of the NCAA Men's Tennis Regionals, that the Rebels are hosting at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center, slated for 12 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: Steve Daniel's bloop single to center with two outs in the ninth inning scored Justin Parker from second and lifted Tennessee to a 5-4 win over Ole Miss and a sweep of the three-game SEC series in Knoxville. It was the second time in the series that Daniel's delivered a two-out, ninth-inning game-winning hit. He hit a two-run single in last Friday's game to rally the Volunteers to a 5-4 victory. Freshman RHP Adam Yates (7-1) suffered his first loss of the season despite allowing two hits and striking out a season-high eight in 6.2 innings. He also walked four and hit one batter. Chad Sterbens went 2x4 at the plate as the Rebels out-hit the Vols 7-6.

WHAT'S AT STAKE: Ole Miss has already clinched a spot in next week's Southeastern Conference Tournament scheduled to start Wednesday at the Hoover Met in Birmingham, Ala. However, the Rebels enter tonight's game still in the hunt for the SEC Western Division and overall conference championships. Ole Miss trails LSU by one-game in the SEC West race, and is two games behind Georgia in the overall standings. A Georgia win AND a Rebel loss tonight would eliminate Ole Miss from contention for the overall SEC title. LSU plays host to Auburn this weekend, while Georgia is at Kentucky.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: Mississippi State enters tonight's game having lost five of its last seven. The Bulldogs defeated UAB, 6-5, Tuesday night in Birmingham after losing 2-of-3 last weekend to Alabama in Starkville ... Mississippi State ranks 11th in the SEC in hitting with a .277 team batting average and the Bulldogs' 29 home runs is tied with Auburn and Vanderbilt for the fewest in the SEC ... Senior 1B/OF Jon Knott is one of six regulars hitting over .300 with a team-best .346 BA (62x179). Knott also has a team-high eight HRs ... Senior OF Josh West leads MSU in RBIs with 44 ... The Bulldogs' pitching staff has the third-best ERA in the SEC at 3.55 and has recorded seven shutouts this season. Opponents are hitting .239 against them with 24 HRs.

SERIES INFO: Tonight's game marks the 390th meeting all-time between Ole Miss and Mississippi State ... the Bulldogs lead the series 215-169-5 ... the two teams have split the last 10 meetings since 1999 ... MSU defeated the Rebels 15-6 on Mar. 28 in the Mayor's Trophy game in Jackson, Miss. ... the Bulldogs have won three of the last four SEC series, including last year's in Starkville, two games to one ... Ole Miss won the last series played in Oxford, two games to one in 1999 ... the Rebels are 86-82-3 against MSU in Oxford, 66-109-1 in Starkville and 17-24 in neutral site games ... Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco is 0-1 against MSU as a collegiate head coach ... MSU head coach Pat McMahon has an 8-6 all-time mark against Ole Miss.

AFTER 53 GAMES LAST YEAR: Ole Miss was 29-24 after 53 games last season ... The Rebels had a .285 batting average (529x1,857) with 56 HRs, 285 RBIs, 87 doubles and nine triples ... Ole Miss had outscored its opponents 317-311 ... The Rebels stole 41-of-64 bases and had hit into 28 double plays ... Ole Miss pitchers had a 4.87 ERA (465.2 IP, 252 ER), allowing 497 hits, including 45 HRs, walked 223 and struck out 326 ... The Rebels had committed 81 errors and turned 40 double plays.

REBEL DIAMOND NOTES: Ole Miss has lost four of its last five after recording a season-best seven-game win streak from Apr. 20-28 ... During that time, Ole Miss has scored more than four runs and registered more than seven hits in just one game, that against Mississippi Valley State when the Rebels scored 12 runs on 13 hits on May 1. Ole Miss is hitting .247 (39x158) as a team, with only nine extra-base hits (5 HRs, 2 2Bs, 2 3Bs), and scored 24 runs during the last five games ... In the four losses during that span -- all SEC games -- the Rebels batted .203 (26x128) and scored 12 runs ... Ole Miss' ERA in the last five games is 4.91 (40.1 IP, 22 ER) -- only .60 points higher than its ERA of 4.31 for the season ... The Rebels are fielding at a .937-clip during their five-game slump, having committed 11 errors in 175 fielding chances, and has turned just one double play ... The four-game SEC losing streak is Ole Miss' longest since losing the last two games of the Mississippi State series and the first two of a series against Alabama last April ... At 16-11 in the SEC, the Rebels are one win shy of tying the school record for the most conference wins in a season with 17 set by the 1999 team ... Ole Miss pitchers are averaging 3.18 walks per game this season, the lowest since 1972. The 1986 team issued an average of 3.2 base on balls in 55 games.
