OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss women's tennis player Julie DeRoo lost in the opening round of the NCAA Singles Championships Tuesday afternoon to end the season for the Lady Rebels. All matches were moved indoors due to rain.

DeRoo dropped a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 decision to Bruna Colosio of LSU. Colosio was seeded 9-16 in the NCAA Championships. DeRoo ends the year with a 16-13 overall record and was making her second consecutive NCAA appearance.

This marked the fourth time the two players have met this year with Colosio winning two of the three meetings completed. DeRoo defeated Colosio in the T. Rowe Price National Clay Court Championships and then Colosio claimed an exciting three-set victory in the regular season meeting between the two schools in Oxford. DeRoo was leading in their match at the NCAA Team Championships, when Ole Miss clinched the win over LSU.
