OXFORD, Miss. - The 32nd-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team earned its sixth consecutive NCAA Championship berth and will head to Palo Alto, Calif., for the NCAA Regionals May 11-12, hosted by Stanford University.

The Lady Rebels will meet LSU in the first round on Friday. Stanford will play Boston University in the other match. The final will be played on Saturday.

"It's exciting to be invited to the NCAA Team Championships for the sixth year in a row," head coach Jerry Montgomery said. "We are looking forward to going to Stanford University, and playing LSU in the first round and then taking on Stanford in the round of 32. Our team has worked hard all year to earn this bid and we are going to make the most of it."

LSU is among 11 SEC teams to make the women's NCAA Team Championships. The Lady Rebels defeated LSU 5-2 in the regular season in Oxford. Stanford and first-year coach Lele Forood have held the No. 1 ranking all 14 weeks of the 2001 season. The Cardinal women, winners of a record 10 NCAA titles, boast the nation's top-ranked singles player, Laura Granville, and top-ranked doubles team, Lauren Barnikow and Lauren Kalvaria. Boston University earned an automatic bid as the America East Conference champions.

The NCAA individual selections were also announced Thursday, and sophomore Julie DeRoo will be participating in the singles competition. DeRoo is currently ranked No. 32 in the nation and owns a 16-11 overall record. This is her second appearance in the NCAA Singles

Championships. This also marks the 12th consecutive year that the Lady Rebels have had a player make the NCAA Singles or Doubles championships.

The times for the regional have not been set yet as Stanford is also hosting a men's regional.
